Geneva is characterized by its old-fashioned small town feel
demonstrated most prominently in the historic downtown area. There,
the storefronts reflect a marketing style of a different kind and
the victorian-style houses look on with dignity of the past.
Settled in the 1830's, Geneva has a pioneer past with the culture
of Swedish immigrants intertwined. Be sure to visit Fabyan Villa
during your stop in Geneva. This estate-turned-forest preserve was
once the home to the wealthy George Fabyan who had the world
reknowned architect, Frank Lloyd Wright design his home. Now the
area can be enjoyed by travelers and residents alike for its
riverside path next to the Fox River, its Japanese Gardens, and

Observe the railroad at the Railroad Park southwest of the
downtown area, or stop at the old Standard Oil Filling Station that

West of Rochelle on IL 38 you can see the a portion of the
original road turning south on South Center Road to cross the Kute

Dixon, Illinois has several claims to fame including its
frontier beginning. Settled in 1830 as Dixons Ferry, the land of
Dixon was a haunt for Indians and trappers for many decades before
that. The community, its landmarks, and recreational areas
developed over the years. When soldiers returned from World War I,
they found that an arch had been constructed to welcome them. The
Dixon Arch now spans the Lincoln Highway. Dixon was also the
boyhood home to President Ronald Reagan.

This quiet community is a nice place to stay while traveling the
Lincoln Highway. You may choose to explore the Hillendale Bed &
Breakfast or camp at the Morrison Rockwood State Park.
After you cross the Mississippi and enter Morrison, be sure to
keep a look out for the Lincoln Highway Garage. A large mural on
the front of the building incorporates reality and fiction so well
you will have a hard time deciding what is the building and what is
